Spin Bike Vs. Stationary Bike
Working out is crucial to living a long and healthy life. There have been multiple studies done by doctors everywhere that prove the connection between working out and keeping active with living a long and healthy life.
There has been a sweeping epidemic of weight gain and obesity throughout the United States, so now more than ever it is crucial to instill in the next generation the importance of being physically active.
So whether you are just starting to work out or have been working out for years and want to do something new, you should look for something that you can do easily and will enjoy. The first step is to figure out whether you want to go to the gym or stay at home.
Go To The Gym Or Work Out At Home? Spin Bike Vs. Stationary Bike
This is always the question we get when we start talking about working out. We know there are plenty of pros and cons for both options.
Let’s first talk about the gym. The gym is a fantastic place to work out as it’s designed purely for this purpose. The reason many people opt to go to the gym is that it forces you to work out without many distractions. You are surrounded by other people who are working out and the environment alone is a great motivator to get started.
However, there are many people who are hesitant about gyms as they do not want to feel judged or be surrounded by people. There also may not be a gym in their area, and they do not want to spend the heavy price tag that some gyms have.
One alternative to the gym is working out at home. There is no question, working out at home is definitely a lot easier and more convenient to do than going to the gym. You can easily come home from work, spend time with your family, and enjoy your workout.
But the problem with being at home is that you can easily be distracted, and it is a lot harder to muster up the energy to actually work out. You are also surrounded by food at home so you are more likely to splurge after your workout.
So what is to be done? Well, you should try to determine which option is best for you. If you are planning to work out from home the first thing you need to do is find equipment.
While many people want to use a treadmill, we believe you should consider buying a bike. But what kind of bike should you get and why?
The Ongoing Debate
So now for the main chunk of this article: should you buy a spin bike or a stationary bike? While both do essentially the same thing, they definitely feel different from one another. In order to understand which will be best for you, you have to understand what they are.
The Spin Bike
The spin bike, made in the 1980s, looks just like an indoor bike but is very special. It has been designed to give you a riding experience similar to actually being outside.
It is mainly used for training the body. You sit on the bike seat as you would on a regular bike and you lean forward into the handlebars. When you pedal, you are actually turning a heavy flywheel at the front of the bike, which makes it feel like you are actually biking outside.
There is a fixed gear on the bike, so the pedals still turn even when you are slowing down.
The Stationary Bike
The stationary bike on the other hand does not have a fly wheel. Therefore, when you stop pedaling the wheels just stop turning. The handlebars are usually higher up and you sit more upright. You can set harder resistance, but it overall does not feel like you are biking outside.
The Final Verdict
Personally, we feel that the spin bike is a lot better if you want a rigorous workout. We enjoy the feeling that we are actually outside on a bike, rather than just sitting on a stationary bike that sometimes feels too easy to use. We recommend that you go look at both and see which is the best one for you!
